There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that contains a number of comforts aside from the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
