There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is illegal. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is real of many borders.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that contains many conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
